Our Processing Methods

India is blessed with a coastline of over 8,129 kms, 2.02 million sq. km of EEZ, 0.5 million sq. km. Continental shelf estimated to have exploitable resources to the tune of 4.42 million tons of sea food out of which about 3.22 million tons are presently exploited. Over the years fishery industry is emerging and rapidly growing. India’s total fishery production is about 8.88 million tons from both capture and aquaculture. Aquaculture production has grown tremendously in the past years and is expected to continue during next few years. In India, two types of aquaculture are practiced. These are freshwater aquaculture and brackish water aquaculture. Freshwater aquaculture involves the breeding of freshwater fish varieties like Rohu, Catla, Mrugal, Freshwater Prawn, Freshwater Pearl culture and Ornamental Fish Farming. Brackish water aquaculture involves breeding of Shrimp Variety like Vannamei. It is practiced in big way in States like West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Sea food as staple protein- India has extensive inland water bodies which are enough to give entire country protein security if these resources are utilize properly for aquaculture. There is one sure benefit of consuming sea food. We get nutritional and health benefits from its valuable nutrient contents. In fact, there is a single food that could be used to address all of the different malnutrition disorders. It is sea food – the staple protein.
